Read N Material
So, I just finished a vunderful book from E.L. Doctorow, and now I need new stuff to read.
I've updated the ever-expanding blogroll to reflect all of you beautiful people with good taste who swing by to give me your invaluable ideas in the comments, but I need something I can take with me to the bathtub, so ya'll tell me what your reading [sic. Hi, Kevy K]. Blogs, magazines, books, plays, poems, subtitles: I don't care what it is. If you like it, I want to read it.
Um, do I have to go over this again? In the Commments section, tell me what you're reading, so I can read it, too, please.

You wanna read in the bathtub??? Oh sweetie I've got so many things to teach you, don't I? They make toys that don't require batteries JUST for that purpose. No books allowed.

I can never read in the bathtub b/c it's all I can handle trying to keep the beer and bathwater separate and the smoking implements dry.
Ever try to smoke a cigarette in the shower?
(My bedside table is a pileup of books going back a year and I only have time for my journals and periodicals, which also are prone to get wet w/ the splashing around and whatnot.)

This girl once asked me whether I was afraid of using my cell phone in the tub and then I explained the rudiments of AC/DC current and we had a good laugh at her expense.

Magazines were invented for this very exercise. New Yorker? Bookforum? Elle? Nylon?

I'm all about the books. I read Atlas Shrugged, in large part, in the tub. 1000 waterlogged pages. Currently reading The Patron Saint of Liars (Ann Patchett rocks). About to get back into Orhan Pamuk. Just finished The Historian.

I too am a longtime bathtub reader. Me, bubbles and and a good book...nothing like it. I just read The Venetian's Wife by Nick Bantock. If you haven't read him 123 Val - you must find the Griffen & Sabine series - he is AMAZING and I KNOW you,of all people, would love these books!!!

I had to test drive a rubber ducky thingy for just that purpose. Eh. I'd rather the book, I think.
I don't smoke, Matty, but I frequently combine suds and suds, know what I mean? Yeah, I don't really bring my treasured volumes into the tub, though. I only want my hands to get wrinkly, not my pages.
Hey Pretty's got it right. Mags are the way to go, I think. I've never heard of Nylon. I like the way it sounds.
Ann Patchett, you say, K? Hmm. I couldn't get through Atlas Shrugged. The Good Lord knows I tried.
Thanks AW! As a glowing fan of Ms. Blume's too, I'm sure you have impeccible taste in authors. Much love to our Canadian neighbors to the North!

Hey Val!
A friend of mine (of course another fly boy, but . . . I'm not interested. Does that mean the spell is finally broken?!) gave the book I'm currently reading. It's called, "The Tipping Point (How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference)" by Malcolm Gladwell. It's very fascinating! 'The Tipping Point is that magic moment when an idea, trend, or social behavior crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire.' I encourage the reading of this #1 NATIONAL BESTSELLER! If you do, let me know what you think.
Miss ya! :)
